This magnificent 'Seven-thousander' dominates the southern rim of the Sanctuary and was the world's highest trodden summit when first climbed by Tom Longstaff and the Bocherel brothers in 1907. Due to closure of the Sanctuary modern mountaineers must approach from the south-west up the beautiful Nandakini valley. The West Face climb is a challenging snow and ice route with slopes up to 60 degrees and a grade of AD to D standard.
Applicants must have substantial experience of Alpine climbing. Proven performance at altitudes above 5000m is also recommended. Don't miss this chance to test your powers in thin air!
Outline itinerary:
May 10-11: Flight to Delhi and sightseeing in India's capital
May 12-13: Rail journey to Haridwar then bus up the Alaknanda valley to roadhead at Ghat (1400m)
May 14-17: 55km trek up Nandakini valley to base camp at Hom Kund (4050m)
May 18-21: Acclimatisation and setting up Camp I below Ronti Saddle at 5100m
May 22-29 Establishing Camp 2 and 3 (5800m and 5600m) on West Ridge of Trisul
May 30-June 4: Summit attempts
June 5-9: Trek out to roadhead, bus to Delhi and flight back to Britain
